Job summary

WSP in Edinburgh is seeking an Associate Transport Planner to join our Development Planning team. You will lead the technical transport planning input on development projects spanning commercial, retail and residential proposals, and support with strategy development and expert witness evidence.

You will also mentor Early Career Professionals, engage in project management and leadership, and help grow our multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective transport planning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical work on Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategy work, parking strategies and related guidance.
• Expertise in preparing traffic flow information for Transport Assessments and Environmental Statements.
• Expertise in setup and running of junction capacity modelling software (Junctions 10, Linsig) and scenario testing.
• Experience of project management (budget, resources, invoicing) on small to medium scale projects.
• Capability of supervising conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals).
• Strong communication skills to lead discussions with clients and project teams.
• Ability to mentor Early Career Professionals in technical areas.
• Proficiency with Excel and Word in day-to-day tasks.
• Growing professional network of colleagues and clients.
• You are an experienced Engineer/Transport Planner with post graduate experience.
• Ideally Chartered status in a transport discipline.

Responsibilities

• You will lead the day-to-day technical transport planning input into Development planning projects, with project management and leadership duties and mentoring for Early Career Professionals.
• Lead transport planning input into small to medium scale projects and work with senior colleagues on delivery, management and leadership of complex multi-disciplinary projects; develop commercial skills and network for Business Development.
