Job summary

FutureGen Recruitment is assisting a Bournemouth planning consultancy to appoint an Associate Town Planner. The role offers ownership, greater project exposure and a clear route to leadership in a compact team.

The successful candidate will work on residential, care schemes and commercial projects, managing applications, coordinating inputs and maintaining client relationships.

Qualifications

• MRTPI membership or equivalent qualification.
• Strong development management experience.
• Direct client skills and knowledge of the south coast market.

Responsibilities

• Prepare clear planning appraisals, statements and strategic advice.
• Manage planning applications and coordinate technical inputs.
• Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and project teams.
• Negotiate constructively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
• Review work produced by junior colleagues and support their development.

A well-regarded independent planning consultancy in Bournemouth is making a key appointment. The business is deliberately compact, giving its planners direct client contact and real influence over project strategy.

What you would be doing

The team’s workload includes residential development, care schemes, commercial property, appeals and Local Plan promotion. The central purpose of the position is to work closely with business owners and influence projects within a deliberately compact consultancy.

• Prepare clear planning appraisals, statements and strategic advice.
• Manage planning applications and coordinate technical inputs.
• Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and project teams.
• Negotiate constructively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
• Review work produced by junior colleagues and support their development.

About you

Mrtpi; strong development management experience; direct client skills and south coast market knowledge. You should also be organised, dependable and able to explain planning issues in straightforward language. The business is interested in people who value good advice and long-term client relationships rather than unnecessary internal politics.

Package and working arrangements

The salary is £48,000–£60,000. The wider package includes flexible working, pension, performance reward and scope to move into leadership. Exact arrangements will depend on experience and will be discussed openly during the process.
