Job summary

Abcam, a Danaher operating company, is seeking an Associate Scientist to oversee production activities of Recombinant Monoclonal and Polyclonal Antibodies in our Cambridge, UK on-site lab. You will drive optimisation, integrate new technologies, and support continuous improvement within the Cells & Antibody Team.

You will collaborate with local and global cross-functional teams, maintain quality standards, and mentor junior colleagues to develop scalable, robust processes for the future.

Qualifications

• Life Sciences degree or equivalent with extensive experience in Biotech.
• Strong Cell Culture experience and Recombinant Antibody Production.
• Strong Protein Purification background and Chromatography with ÄKTA system.
• Ability to optimise, troubleshoot and improve protocols for performance, efficiency and quality.
• Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines.
• Effective communicator across local and global cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality antibodies, cell lines and lysates in line with team workload and timelines.
• Maintain high quality standards ensuring ISO9001 compliance and audit readiness.
• Mentor and coach junior colleagues to foster growth.
• Transfer emerging technologies from R&D into manufacturing to build scalable processes.
• Promote continuous improvement using 5S and Lean 6 Sigma principles.
• Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate root causes and implement countermeasures.
