Job summary

University of Oxford invites applications for an Associate Professor of Engineering Science (Chemical Engineering). The appointment is from 1 September 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter, with a Tutorial Fellowship at New College.

Salary scale from £57,986 to £77,366 per annum plus housing allowance £12,887; initial five‑year term with potential for reappointment after review. The appointee will lead research in Chemical Engineering, pursue external funding, and contribute to teaching

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or cognate discipline.
• Proven research track record with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Research areas of AI in Chemical/Process Engineering, Catalysis and Reaction Engineering, or Advanced Biomanufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead undergraduate and graduate teaching in Chemical Engineering.
• Supervise undergraduate design and project work; contribute to admissions and student wellbeing guidance.
• Develop and manage external research funding to establish an independent program.
• Engage in College governance as New College tutor and trustee where applicable.
