Job summary

The Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford seeks an Associate Professor of Engineering Science (Chemical Engineering) from 1 September 2027 or as soon as possible. The role combines original research leadership with teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising projects.

The post includes a University/College salary scale (£57,986–£77,366 p.a.) plus benefits such as a housing allowance (£12,887 p.a.).

Qualifications

• A doctorate in Chemical Engineering or cognate discipline (essential).
• Internationally recognised research record and potential (essential).
• Strong publication record and ability to secure external funding (essential).
• Teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate courses (essential).
• Experience supervising postgraduate research and collaborations (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Chemical Engineering and related topics.
• Supervise postgraduate research students and provide guidance on progress.
• Lead an independent research program and pursue external funding.
• Contribute to departmental and college governance and outreach (industry links desirable).
