Job summary

Dyson seeks an Associate Principal Embedded Software Engineer for the Power Electronics discipline in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. The role focuses on leading efficient embedded software for power electronic systems, such as motor drives and battery management, taking ideas to prototype demonstrations.

You will mentor engineers, drive technical delivery, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust software while engaging with external partners and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or related field and relevant electronics research experience.
• Strong experience with embedded C/C++ for microcontrollers and ARM-based devices.
• Experience in motor drives, power conversion, or battery management is highly desired.
• Proficiency with Python for scripting and MATLAB for simulations is expected.
• Experience leading a software R&D project and working in an agile environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop software for power electronic systems including motor drives and battery management.
• Create and review resource-efficient embedded software for microcontrollers.
• Lead one or more electronics software research projects.
• Collaborate with external partners and researchers to evaluate new technologies.
• Design, simulate, build and test prototype systems to validate concepts.
• Coach and mentor team members to improve software quality and processes.
• Drive internal software development processes and tool adoption.
• Shape external microcontroller roadmaps with suppliers.
• Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
