Job summary

Emotiv Technical Recruitment is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer for hybrid work in Coventry (UK) or Prague. You will design and validate real-time embedded software for high-integrity electrification projects, collaborating with hardware, systems and validation teams. Requires 5+ years in embedded development, strong C/C++, and experience with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with embedded debugging tools and version control.
• Knowledge of CAN, LIN, SPI and I2C communication protocols.
• Experience in safety-critical/high-integrity industries (automotive, aerospace, marine or energy) is desirable.
• BMS knowledge, power electronics or power conversion systems.
• Functional Safety (ISO 26262), ASPICE or similar standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test embedded software for microcontroller-based systems.
• Develop software in C/C++ for real-time embedded applications.

• Support software architecture, requirements capture and documentation.

Location: Coventry, UK or Prague, Czechia (Hybrid)

We're looking for an experienced Principal Embedded Software Engineer to develop low-level embedded software for advanced electrification projects, including battery management, power conversion and electric vehicle control systems.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and validating embedded software for real-time applications while helping to drive technical standards and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test embedded software for microcontroller-based systems.
• Develop software in C/C++ for real-time embedded applications.
• Implement device drivers and communication protocols including CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C and UART.
• Support software architecture, requirements capture and documentation.
• Carry out software verification, debugging and integration testing.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems and validation engineers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

About You
