Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking an experienced Associate Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineer to join our Building Services team in the UK, based in Birmingham or Leicester.

You will lead the design and delivery of complex building services projects, managing multidisciplinary teams and maintaining strong client relationships. The role demands Chartered Engineer status or progress toward it, with a track record of delivering building services projects within a consultancy.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
• Proven experience delivering building services projects within a consultancy environment.
• Strong leadership and project management skills; Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
• Commercial awareness and experience with project cost control.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and at least several design tools listed is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leading the mechanical or electrical design process from concept to completion.
• Overseeing the production of detailed calculations, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Managing project delivery, including resource planning, budgeting, and quality assurance.
• Conducting site inspections and supporting construction-stage activities.
• Collaborating with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines.
• Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers, supporting their development.
• Contributing to business development, fee proposals, and bid submissions.
• Promoting sustainable design and innovation across all projects.

Your new role
