Job summary

Tetra Tech, a global leader in high-end consulting and engineering, is growing its Building Services team in Leicester and is looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding group.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design mechanical systems (HVAC, public health etc.), produce detailed calculations and drawings, support senior engineers with site surveys, and coordinate with clients, architects and other disciplines while ensuring compliance with current building

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
• Experience on mechanical building services projects in consultancy or contractor setting.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, and NBS.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Full UK driving licence (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Designing mechanical systems (HVAC, public health, etc.) from concept to completion.
• Producing detailed design calculations, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Supporting senior engineers with site surveys, inspections, and construction stage duties.
• Coordinating with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines.
• Ensuring compliance with current building regulations and sustainability standards.
• Participating in project meetings and contributing to technical discussions.
• Developing your technical skills with guidance from experienced engineers.

Your new role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of building services projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality mechanical engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
