Job summary

The Abbey in Greater Manchester is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead a team of Mechanical Design Engineers within our building services practice. You will manage a small team and collaborate with our five UK offices on live projects across education, healthcare, and commercial sectors.

The role offers a clear path to Associate Director within 24 months, with a focus on delivering high-quality designs, client liaison, and fee bids while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years experience in MEP Design and Sustainability within a consultancy.
• Experience on education and commercial sector projects.
• Experience producing bids and tenders for work.
• Experience managing a team of engineers.

Associate Mechanical Engineer - Greater Manchester

A well-renowned building services engineering consultancy based on the outskirts of South Manchester is currently looking for an Associate level Mechanical Building Services design Engineer to lead a small team of M&E Design Engineers. This consultancy has a great reputation for working with well-known clients on well-publicised projects within the commercial office fit-out, education and healthcare sector.

In this role you will be responsible for managing a team of Mechanical Design Engineers based in the area as well as liaising with their other 5 UK offices. It is an excellent opportunity to join the management team, with a view to becoming an Associate Director within 24 months. The board aims to grow this particular office by 15 per cent this year.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 5 Mechanical Design Engineers
• Liaise with the other 5 UK offices
• Provide expert advice and designs to clients on live projects
• Work in a client-facing role, managing client relationships
• Have good business acumen to manage the department according to what you see fit, under minimal supervision from the M&E Director
• Lead projects, provide fee bids and mentor less experienced engineers, seeing projects through from feasibility, construction and post-occupancy

Requirements
