Job summary

Ramboll’s UK Healthcare team seeks an Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for hospital and healthcare projects in the UK and internationally. You’ll drive low‑carbon building services, deliver BIM workflows, and act as a client-facing technical lead across multi‑disciplinary teams.

The role offers flexible working arrangements with office or home-based options and a portfolio including notable projects across the UK and beyond.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering mechanical building services on healthcare or high-resilience projects.
• Strong Revit/BIM 360 capability.
• Chartered status or eligibility for MCIBSE/MIMechE/MIHEEM; Ramboll provides chartership support.
• Experience leading project teams and client engagement.
• Experience with BIM delivery and MEP coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design and delivery for healthcare projects from concept through design and handover.
• Mentor and develop small to medium mechanical engineering teams.
• Lead MEP coordination and BIM delivery using Revit/BIM 360 and related tools.
• Produce and review detailed design calculations, specifications, and drawings to required standards.
• Act as client-facing technical lead in project meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
• Manage project scope, resources and delivery, identifying and mitigating technical and commercial risks.
• Support business development with proposals and technical inputs.
• Champion sustainability and zero-carbon design and continuous improvement.
