Job Summary:

The Associate Director – Group Finance is a senior leadership position responsible for leading the Group finance function and delivering internal and external financial reporting obligations of the Canary Wharf Group. This role requires strong accounting expertise, a collaborative style, and the ability to provide guidance across the business.

The individual will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, manage external audits, ensure compliance with regulations, and support strategic projects with accounting expertise. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the role involves managing financial operations, enhancing reporting processes, and ensuring control and compliance.

Annual Salary: circa £130,000 - £150,000 depending on experience

Work Arrangement: 4 days in office / 1 WFH

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures supporting group goals.
  2. Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and regulations.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting, including quarterly and annual reports.
  4. Provide technical accounting guidance on complex issues, ensuring standards compliance.
  5. Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and implement necessary updates.
  6. Draft accounting papers and liaise with external auditors, preparing audit reports as needed.
  7. Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders for aligned reporting.
  8. Manage external audits for smooth processes.
  9. Lead and develop the finance team, fostering engagement and high-quality delivery.
  10. Enhance internal control environment and promote financial discipline.
  11. Assist with ad hoc financial projects as required.
What We Require of You:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with +7 years post-qualification experience, including at least 4 years in leadership roles.
  • Experience in leading complex group financial close processes and implementing improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and standards, especially treasury accounting.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills, with excellent communication.
  • Experience in improving internal controls and utilizing technology solutions.
  • Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems; Yardi experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and experience in financial statement disclosures, including sustainability and risk reporting.
  • Ability to manage audit relationships and improve audit processes.
  • Attention to detail, ownership, and ability to work under pressure with strong time management.
  • Energetic, proactive, and innovative mindset.
