Job Overview
An onsite role in London, England responsible for the development and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programmes to comply with applicable regulations. The individual will work in manufacturing, test and R&D environments focusing on occupational safety, chemical management, incident management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, storm water management, air emissions, regulated waste, etc., overseeing all aspects of EHS across UK and European operations. The role works closely with operational leaders and EHS corporate functions to proactively manage risk and embed a positive, proactive EHS culture.
Responsibilities
- Assist accident/incidents investigations, analyze root causes, and implement preventative actions.
- Define actionable follow‑ups and track implementation to continuously enhance safety, efficiency, and incident response capabilities for a distributed team.
- Serve as the EHS interface and liaison with employees, managers, customers, auditors and regulators.
- Identify workplace safety hazards and conditions for job‑related tasks by performing and documenting safety inspections.
- Collaborate with other departments to guide, teach and influence safe behaviours in the workplace.
- Manage hazardous waste handling, labeling and storage.
- Influence at all organisational levels and build a proactive EHS culture.
- Work with functional teams to identify, prioritise and manage opportunities and risks across operations.
- Manage and coordinate EHS training programmes for team members.
- Support operational stakeholders in meeting European Chemical Regulations (REACH) requirements.
- Ensure site compliance with all EHS requirements.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health and safety programmes.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective at engaging with leadership, regulators, front‑line staff and third‑party partners.
- Capability to manage multiple activities, projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Well‑rounded ESH professional comfortable being the sole EHS person on site.
- Manufacturing experience.
- Experience with lithium‑battery safety.
- High‑energy individual eager to build a system rather than merely manage one.
- Natural tendency toward challenging the status quo to find novel ways to improve EHS systems.
- Person who leans into challenges instead of saying “no” and walking away.
- Experience with European Chemical Regulations is highly desirable.
