The team is responsible for delivering design services across our markets, including Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations), and Urban Developments.

We have an exciting new opportunity in the Infrastructure PDP for an Associate Director to join our North, Scotland, and Northern Ireland (NS&NI) practice, based in our Manchester office. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career with increased responsibility for project delivery from inception to completion. The position involves a mix of agile working from our NS&NI offices, client sites, and project locations.

Our recruitment is driven by the success of our division, our growing pipeline, and anticipated expansion within the Northern regions across sectors such as Defence, Water, and Nuclear.

Working as an Associate Director within the Infrastructure PDP offers the chance to engage with a broad range of projects, including refurbishment, new builds, nuclear, defence, and water projects, providing opportunities to demonstrate and enhance your project management skills, knowledge, and experience.

Ideal candidates will have several years of multidisciplinary infrastructure project delivery experience, preferably within a consultancy environment, and be responsible for leading and successfully delivering major projects from concept through construction to handover.

As Associate Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring project delivery aligns with targets for programme, budget, and quality.
  • Defining project objectives and developing strategies to achieve them.
  • Managing contractual and commercial risks, as well as identifying opportunities.
  • Leading and motivating project teams, fostering problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Facilitating communication among clients, project teams, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Collaborating with Discipline Leads to agree on commercial arrangements and communication plans, including coordination with global teams in Bangalore and New Delhi.
  • Owning and managing project delivery programmes and plans.
  • Protecting AtkinsRéalis's commercial interests through timely invoicing, credit control, and financial reporting, including Earned Value Management.
  • Closing out projects effectively, archiving documentation, and capturing lessons learned.
  • Upholding AtkinsRéalis values: Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, and Innovation.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer, Architect, Project Manager, or equivalent with experience in managing large infrastructure projects.
  • APM PMQ or similar recognized project management qualification is desirable.
  • Experience across various market sectors and familiarity with different construction contracts, such as NEC3 or 4.
  • Proven ability to manage projects within time, cost, and quality constraints, with knowledge of programming and earned value techniques.
  • Familiarity with BIM, 3D modelling tools, and information management within models.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Understanding of assurance and compliance principles relevant to the industry.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for growth and bring value through new work.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently or within teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to project delivery and stakeholder management.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and work on client sites as required.
