Job Role: Associate in Charge of Cost Management

The role involves managing project work including long-term and one-off client projects, covering both new build and refurbishment sectors. Projects are primarily based within the Leicester, Leicestershire, and Midlands regions, with some across the UK. Flexible working from home is possible by agreement.

Responsibilities and Duties

This is a middle management position overseeing a team of quantity surveyors. You will work closely with and report to the company director, assisting with client account management and project delivery, and deputising in the director's absence.

Key duties include:

• Managing and mentoring your cost management and quantity surveying team
• Supervising and reviewing the production of cost estimates, schedules of work, builders' quantities, bills of quantities, estimating work, and estimates
• Undertaking feasibility studies
• Supervising tender and contract documentation production
• Supervising valuations, cost reporting, and final accounts

Desired Skills and Experience

• Candidates may have worked as Senior Cost Managers, with a good mix of pre- and post-contract experience. Applications with strengths in either area are also considered.
• Proven experience in managing and developing teams of cost managers or quantity surveyors while maintaining a hands-on role.
• Experience managing multiple projects, ideally exceeding or close to £1m.
• Experience in both new build and refurbishment projects.
• Willingness and capability to run multiple projects and supervise colleagues.
• Applicants from consultancy and contracting backgrounds are welcome, provided they have experience within a chartered quantity surveying practice.
• Strong client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• Full membership of RICS or an equivalent professional body is expected.
