Job summary

Carriera Limited is assisting a boutique Birmingham-based building surveying consultancy to recruit an Associate Building Surveyor to establish and lead a new Birmingham operation. You will recruit, develop the team, win clients, and take P&L ownership, with a clear path to equity.

Expect autonomy to shape strategy, build relationships, and deliver commercial surveying instructions across the Midlands. Ideally MRICS, well-connected locally, entrepreneurial, and based in or around Birmingham,

Associate Building Surveyor - Birmingham

Carriera is working with a dynamic and ambitious commercial building surveying consultancy to appoint an Associate Building Surveyor who will establish and grow its presence in Birmingham.

Founded only a few years ago, the business has quickly developed an excellent reputation, receiving overwhelming support from clients and creating a strong platform for continued growth.

This is a significant opportunity for an entrepreneurial building surveyor who wants more than a conventional Associate position. You will have the autonomy to build a Birmingham office, develop a team and client base, and take genuine ownership of its performance.

The opportunity:

You will work closely with the founders to establish the Birmingham operation, with responsibility for:

• Delivering commercial building surveying instructions
• Developing existing and new client relationships across Birmingham and the Midlands
• Building a local profile and network
• Recruiting and developing a building surveying team
• Taking P&L responsibility for the office
• Contributing to the wider strategy and growth of the business

About you:

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, commercially minded and, importantly, good with people.

You are likely to be:

• MRICS qualified with strong commercial building surveying experience
• Based in or around Birmingham
• Well connected within the local property market
• Comfortable developing and maintaining client relationships
• Ambitious and entrepreneurial
• Excited by the opportunity to build something rather than inherit an established team

You don't necessarily need to arrive with a significant fee book. More important is your reputation, personality, local network and ability to turn relationships into long-term clients.
