Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Group in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Engineering/Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design delivery from inception to completion on major infrastructure projects. You will chair design reviews, supervise the design team, and work with project managers to ensure safety, quality, programme, cost and commercial targets are met.

The role requires Chartered Engineer or equivalent qualification, extensive design management experience, and the ability to travel to UK

Qualifications

• Qualified professional such as Chartered Engineer, Architect or Project Professional.
• Significant design management and engineering leadership on multidisciplinary projects.
• Proven ability to lead large projects across RIBA stages with sound judgement.
• Translate client requirements into clear, coordinated and achievable design outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary systems integration and technical interfaces.
• Experience authoring and maintaining a robust Design Management Plan and assurance processes.
• Lead multidisciplinary BIM coordination and collaboration platforms.
• Plan and control design delivery including programmes, resources, budgets, risks and change.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the Design Management Plan for the assigned project or work package.
• Lead the design and multidisciplinary teams through development of the work and manage interfaces.
• Provide technical leadership to the Design Delivery Team across disciplines.
• Make accountable decisions within the Delegation of Authority.
• Establish governance, technical assurance and quality-control arrangements.
• Agree design programme, milestones, deliverables and resource requirements.
• Manage expenditure, technical and commercial risk, change control and contractual compliance.
• Lead design engagement with clients and stakeholders, securing decisions and relationships.
• Develop and maintain relationships across AtkinsRéalis and external partners.
• Promote collaboration, BIM tools and common data environments in delivery.
• Ensure design requirements and configuration are captured and controlled.
• Identify opportunities with clients and contribute to bids and proposals.
• Coach and mentor colleagues to support capability development.
• Lead project innovation and improvement across the region and wider business.
• Promote sustainable design and Net Zero principles.
