This role will be based in our Cheltenham office and the Associate will work closely with Adrian Mayer, Jonathan Morley and Edward Robinson. Jonathan’s practice is primarily corporate finance with particular experience in mergers and acquisitions (public and private), private equity and joint ventures. Edward advises on a range of UK and international work involving M&A and private equity, with a particular focus on family businesses and investors & entrepreneurs, including family investment companies. The workload and the practices of the partners are varied and interesting, with much of the work having an international element. The corporate practice managed from the Cheltenham office is international and involves US, European, and Africa based and focussed, clients. Partners and team members often work with others in the national and international offices of the Firm. Some travel nationally will be required (if only to the London office periodically), and on rare occasions internationally too.

  • Produce accurate and logical drafting that supports effective matter progression and makes appropriate use of precedents.
  • Provide well-researched, relevant and commercially sound advice by identifying and applying the most accurate and appropriate legal sources.
  • Support the growth of the department’s client base and referral network by contributing to client marketing, business development and relationship-building activities.
  • Strengthen divisional knowledge-sharing by contributing to know-how initiatives, resources and best practice.

  • An interest in international corporate work and the ambition to develop expertise in cross-border matters.
Person Specification

  • Builds trusted working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including clients, to support collaboration, alignment and delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
