A little more about your role…

As an Associate / Associate Director, you will provide technical leadership to our design and assessment teams, using your knowledge and skills to deliver quality work on time and within budget. You will lead design teams, mentor junior members, and support project delivery.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading technical aspects of bridge and civil engineering design and assessment projects in the UK and internationally.
• Conducting project reviews to optimize solutions and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs.
• Managing resources and developing relationships with other teams.
• Negotiating fees and managing project finances.
• Promoting a culture of technical review and challenge.
• Developing client relationships and leading tenders and bids.
• Supervising and mentoring junior team members.

About the team and location

Our Civil and Bridge Engineering team in South West & Wales, with offices in Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter & Truro, comprises over 120 engineers, technicians, and project managers. We work on diverse projects across rail and highway sectors for clients like HS2, Network Rail, and local authorities. Our team offers opportunities to broaden your experience across sectors in a supportive, learning-focused environment.

What we seek from you

We anticipate you will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with experience in:

• Bridge design, maintenance, and assessment from both construction sites and design offices.
• Project management of bridge projects.
• Design, maintenance, and supervision of structures, including new builds, assessments, and strengthening of bridges and civil structures.
• Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW standards related to structural schemes.
• Application of Eurocodes to bridge design.
• Design or assessment experience of steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete bridges.
• Proficiency with analysis software like LUSAS, Superstress, and SAM.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, adaptability, and team development enthusiasm.
