Job summary

Useful Studio, an architectural practice in London, is seeking an Associate Architect to lead design, delivery and commercial performance on multiple projects. The role focuses on lean, circular design, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and building trusted client relationships.

You will oversee briefs and design development, embed low-carbon strategies, and ensure design quality through RIBA stages, with hybrid working and a 3-day-in-office pattern. ARB registration support is offered.

Qualifications

• 6+ years post Part Lll experience
• Experience leading architectural projects and multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with workplace, education and masterplanning projects
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and manage resources
• Strong commercial understanding including fees, scope, budgets and forecasts
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee several architectural projects, setting delivery priorities and taking accountability for outcomes
• Guide briefs, concepts and design development while maintaining architectural intent through technical delivery
• Embed low carbon, reuse and circular design in project decisions balancing environmental goals with client needs
• Manage project commercial performance including fees, scope, budgets and forecasts
• Guide teams through briefs, design reviews and feedback ensuring quality and timely delivery
• Build strong client and consultant relationships, explaining design choices and resolving priorities
• Identify opportunities for follow-on work and contribute to fee proposals
