Job summary

ARAG Law is seeking an Associate to join the Contract Disputes team within the Volume Litigation Department. You will manage a caseload across commercial disputes, using courts, mediation, or ADR to resolve cases while keeping costs controlled.

You will work with the team to meet SLAs and KPIs, support on financial targets, and share knowledge with colleagues. A strong grounding in contract law, civil procedure, and SRA obligations is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of contract law and civil procedure is essential.
• Experience of running Fast Track value cases is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of disputes with a focus on commercial outcomes.
• Maintain cost control and efficiency in case handling.
• Support delivery of SLAs, KPIs, and billing targets set by Head of Department.
• Utilise management information to drive departmental objectives.
• Assess prospects of success in line with client policy and procedures.
• Mentor junior team members and share best practices.
• Review processes and implement improvements where appropriate.
• Ensure adherence to SRA standards and obligations.

ARAG Law are seeking an Associate to join our growing Contract Disputes team within our Volume Litigation Department. As part of the Wider ARAG UK Group, which includes our market-leading Legal Expenses Insurance provision, ARAG Law enjoys a steady stream of varied and interesting work into the firm., As an Associate in the Contract Disputes team, you will be responsible for managing a case load in your area of expertise. You will have experience managing cases in a commercial manner either through the courts and litigation or the use of mediation and other ADR techniques.,

• Managing a caseload of cases in line with expectations ensuring disputes are resolved in a commercial manner via courts, mediation or ADR techniques.
• Ensure cases are managed in a cost effective manner by maintaining grip on cost at all times.
• Drive a culture of effective and efficient case handling, whilst maintaining a focus on the good customer outcome for each individual client;
• Working with others to deliver on SLA's, KPI's, financial and performance targets as set by the Head of Department to drive efficiency, performance, billing and throughput within the team.
• Utilise management information and work closely with other members of the team to achieve the departmental objectives;
• Ensure the early assessment of the prospects of success of each claim and that the claim is handled throughout in accordance with the requirements of our client's legal expenses insurance policy.
• Share knowledge and best practice with team members and support junior employees in their development.
• Support any change activities in your area.
• Review existing processes and, where appropriate, make recommendations for improvement
• Experience and knowledge of contract law and civil procedure is essential, including experience of running Fast Track value cases
• Articulate and confident in client care with an ability to embrace a changing environment in a new kind of law firm
• Excellent client care skills
• Ability to act on their own initiative and knowing when to seek assistance
• Competent at adapting style to communication need
• Familiar with SRA standards and obligations
