Job summary

Horwich Farrelly in Birmingham is seeking an Associate to join the Property Insurance team. The role involves managing a caseload of multi-track property damage claims, handling coverage disputes, and developing client relationships. Hybrid (1-2 days in the office) with a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE in insurance and property damage.
• Strong academic background.
• Hardworking, proactive, and highly organised.
• Confident working independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to continue developing technical knowledge and expertise.
• Critical thinking skills and the confidence to challenge information appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of predominantly multi-track property damage claims (mainly claimant, with some defendant work).
• Handling coverage disputes and providing clear, commercially-focused advice to clients.
• Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and industry contacts.
• Taking ownership of aspects of key client relationships.
• Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior team members.
• Leading or contributing to cross-departmental projects.
• Delivering presentations, training, seminars and supporting wider business development initiatives.
• Sharing market insights and supporting the development of new services and thought leadership.
• Meeting financial and performance targets while maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct.
• Ensuring full compliance with SRA rules, data protection and all internal policies

About the team

Our Property Insurance team works with many of the UK’s leading property insurers, handling a wide range of claims arising from fires, floods, escapes of water, storms, explosions, vehicle impacts and other causes of property damage. The team manages a mixture of high-profile and high-value matters and is continuing to grow as we win work from both existing and new clients.
You’ll be joining a knowledgeable, supportive, and highly respected team that is known for delivering excellent results while developing strong relationships across the industry.

What you'll be doing
