Job summary

Horwich Farrelly in Birmingham/Manchester is seeking an Associate to join our Property Insurance team on a permanent, hybrid basis (1-2 days in the office). You will manage a caseload of multi-track property damage claims, advise on coverage disputes, and support client relationships while supervising junior team members.

The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE, strong insurance and property damage experience, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

Qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE in insurance and property damage.
Strong academic background.
Hardworking, proactive and highly organised.

Responsibilities

Managing a caseload of predominantly multi-track property damage claims (mainly claimant).
Handling coverage disputes and providing clear, commercially-focused advice to clients.
Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and industry contacts.
Taking ownership of aspects of key client relationships.
Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior team members.
Leading or contributing to cross-departmental projects.
Delivering presentations, training and supporting business development initiatives.
Meeting financial and performance targets while maintaining high professional standards.
Ensuring compliance with SRA rules, data protection and internal policies.

About the team

Our Property Insurance team works with many of the UK’s leading property insurers, handling a wide range of claims arising from fires, floods, escapes of water, storms, explosions, vehicle impacts and other causes of property damage. The team manages a mixture of high‑profile and high‑value matters and is continuing to grow as we win work from both existing and new clients.
You’ll be joining a knowledgeable, supportive, and highly respected team that is known for delivering excellent results while developing strong relationships across the industry.

What you’ll be doing

Managing a caseload of predominantly multi‑track property damage claims (mainly claimant, with some defendant work).
Handling coverage disputes and providing clear, commercially‑focused advice to clients.
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and industry contacts.
Taking ownership of aspects of key client relationships.
Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior team members.
Leading or contributing to cross‑departmental projects.
Delivering presentations, training, seminars and supporting wider business development initiatives.
Sharing market insights and supporting the development of new services and thought leadership.

What do I need?
