Job summary

Hollybank Trust in Mirfield is seeking an innovative Assistive Technology Officer to join our Therapy Team. You’ll work with children and adults with complex disabilities, delivering technology solutions that enhance communication, independence and quality of life.

You’ll assess and trial assistive tech and environmental control equipment, adapt solutions to individual needs, provide training, maintain records and collaborate across care, education and therapy services to maximise impact.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 A-Level passes or equivalent.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working within health, social care or education settings.
  • Experience supporting children or adults with complex disabilities and learning difficulties.
  • Experience supporting individuals with communication and movement difficulties.
  • Experience of assistive technology and environmental control equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and creative approach to finding solutions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assistive technology interventions, assessments and support sessions as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Adapt, personalise and configure technology solutions to meet individual needs.
  • Carry out access device assessments and contribute to technology recommendations.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting and maintenance for specialist equipment.
  • Create bespoke solutions, including adapting equipment and building mounting systems where required.
  • Support colleagues across care, education and therapy services to maximise the use of assistive technology.
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff teams on equipment, systems and best practice.
  • Maintain accurate records, equipment databases and audit information.
  • Ensure equipment is safe, appropriately maintained and compliant with relevant risk assessments.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies, innovations and evidence-based practice.
