About the Role

Providing high quality, effective youth work programmes for children and young people in Hackney, supporting their physical and emotional well-being, educational attainment, and transition to employment. Supporting young people to become active participants in their community and to develop independence.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing a diverse 7-day programme of youth activities during term-time, holidays, and residential settings, including open access and targeted initiatives.
  • Creating participative programmes that enable young people to progress, manage transitions, and improve outcomes.
  • Promoting community cohesion and encouraging active participation of young people within their community.
  • Developing programmes supporting a robust local offer for disabled young people.
  • Building respectful, honest, challenging, and supportive relationships with young people, including those who are hard to reach.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, including assessing vulnerabilities.
  • Respecting young people's rights and ensuring their meaningful participation in plans and community activities.
Requirements:
  • Experience in delivering open access and targeted youth work and participation programmes.
  • Knowledge of accreditation programmes that recognize young people's achievements.
  • Ability to work with young people presenting challenging behaviour.
  • Interest in personal development and participation of young people.
  • Ability to plan and implement inclusive programmes that respond to diverse needs, including those of disabled young people and those with SEN.
  • Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months. If on the update service, you may be fast-tracked through our recruitment process.
