Job summary

Kfm Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an experienced Weighbridge Operative / Yard Operative for a busy scrap metal recycling operation in Hull. The role combines weighbridge duties, customer service, administration and yard work.

You will identify and sort scrap metal grades, supervise weigh-ins, produce tickets, and assist drivers with daily collections. The job offers training, on-site parking, and a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous scrap metal experience is essential.
• Good knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Responsibilities

• Operate the weighbridge system to weigh customers and vehicles in and out.
• Produce manual and printed weighbridge tickets.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Weighbridge Operative / Yard Operative to join a busy scrap metal recycling operation.

This is a varied role combining weighbridge duties, customer service, administration and yard work. Previous experience working with ferrous and non-ferrous metals is essential, including the ability to identify and sort different grades of scrap metal.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating the weighbridge system to weigh customers and vehicles in and out
• Producing manual and printed weighbridge tickets
• Identifying and sorting different grades of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal
• Directing customers and vehicles to the correct areas of the yard
• Assisting with the unloading of smaller loads
• Carrying out general yard and labouring duties
• Organising daily jobs and collections for drivers
• Assisting with transport administration
• Using an electronic till system
• Carrying out general computer and administration duties
• Providing a professional and helpful service to customers

Requirements

• Previous scrap metal experience is essential
• Good knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
• Previous experience in a weighbridge, transport office, recycling or similar environment would be advantageous
• Valid forklift licence required
• Full UK driving licence required
• Basic computer skills would be an advantage – training can be provided
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Comfortable working both inside and outdoors
• Reliable and punctual
• References will be required

• Pay of £12.71 – £14.00 per hour, depending on experience
