Job Description

Are you looking for your next opportunity? Sompo has a unique opening for an Assistant Underwriter in our UK Regions Property team within our UK Commercial Lines business.

Our Corporate Property team writes large commercial risks across the UK and international markets. Our clients present challenging and complex risks, often with multinational requirements. Sompo has the capabilities to act as both a lead or follow market, working across our broker network to secure long-term partnerships with our target customers. This position is based in our Birmingham office, fostering a collaborative work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Supporting underwriters from submission of risks through to binding, across all aspects of the underwriting process.
2. Responding promptly and professionally to general mid-term questions from brokers and internal stakeholders, ensuring first-class service within authority parameters.
3. Interacting with brokers and external parties, including third-party service providers, maintaining and developing good relationships.
4. Contributing to underwriting service projects aimed at improving existing services.
5. Maintaining accurate risk, exposure, and premium data in the company's policy administration systems.
6. Assisting with underwriting and modeling tasks, including completing pricing models.
7. Providing ad-hoc support to underwriting teams as needed.
8. Preparing financial and other analyses to support underwriting decisions.

• At least 1 year of Property Insurance experience.
