Job summary

Penguin Recruitment in London is seeking an Assistant Town Planner to support a growing consultancy delivering planning advice across residential, mixed-use and infrastructure projects. You will assist with applications, policy research and reports, working closely with senior planners to progress schemes from inception to consent.

You will gain exposure to clients and local authorities, develop RTPI knowledge and benefit from structured training, mentoring and clear progression toward

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Working towards RTPI membership or recently qualified.
• Experience in a planning consultancy, local authority, developer, or property environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent report-writing and analytical abilities.
• Commercial awareness and interest in development sector.
• Proactive, organised, and capable of managing multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
• Undertaking planning policy research and site appraisals.
• Preparing planning statements, supporting reports, and consultation responses.
• Monitoring planning applications and local plan developments.
• Liaising with local authorities, clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Supporting senior colleagues on complex planning and development projects.
• Contributing to business development activities and client relationships.
