Job description

Do you thrive on organisation and enjoy working hands-on with product? If so, this could be your perfect second step into tech at Hobbs.

As the Assistant Technologist, you won't just be observing; you'll be keenly involved in ensuring the perfect fit, impeccable quality, and technical excellence of our footwear, accessories and apparel product from the very first sketch to the moment they reach our customers.

What You’ll Do:

• As the Assistant Technologist, you’ll be right there in our weekly fit sessions, learning from our skilled Technical team as you evaluate garment and accessory fit from initial prototypes all the way to pre-production samples.
• You'll play a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date technical packs, the essential blueprints for our suppliers, ensuring everyone is on the same page.
• Conduct monthly store visits and dive into competitor research, bringing back valuable insights on key trends and what our competitors are doing in the footwear and accessories space. Your commercial awareness will help to shape and influence our product strategy on the department.
• You'll assist the Senior Technologist in conducting risk assessments and wearer trials, ensuring our products are not only stylish but also fit for purpose and steadily meet our high standards.

Who you'll be:

The Assistant Technologist will have a foundational knowledge of garment construction and basic pattern cutting, eager to learn and grow within a footwear, accessories and apparel technical team. You will possess a sharp eye for detail and can communicate clearly and effectively. You'll also be enthusiastic about contributing to high-quality products and are keen to develop your skills in fit evaluation. While experience with footwear and accessories is a bonus, your passion for learning are what truly matter.
