Job description

Our Own Label team is seeking a Hardlines Assistant Technologist to join us at Harrods, playing a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You will support technical development, factory evaluation, and inspection processes to guarantee our products are fit for purpose and align with our brand values.

About the Role

In this role, you will work closely with suppliers, technologists, and internal stakeholders to ensure the seamless development of our product ranges while maintaining technical excellence, efficiency, and compliance. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Working across Toys, Stationery, Homewares, and Seasonal product categories.
2. Organising weekly fit sessions, maintaining fit logs, and providing timely feedback to suppliers.
3. Ensuring all products meet legal and safety requirements for different markets.
4. Assisting with completing Design Packs and ensuring technical details are accurate for costings and approvals.
5. Maintaining communication with suppliers, monitoring audit expiry dates, and tracking compliance reports.
6. Supporting sustainability initiatives and product testing to meet Harrods' ethical and environmental commitments.
7. Investigating non-compliant products, supporting stock movements, and ensuring timely resolutions.
8. Conducting competitor benchmarking on materials, finishes, and innovations to enhance product development.

About You

You are a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive professional with a passion for product quality and technical development. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring seamless product launches and supporting Harrods' reputation for excellence in Own Label products. You will have:

1. Experience working with Hardlines categories, including Toys, Seasonal, Homeware, and Stationery.
2. Experience in a similar role, ideally within a premium or luxury brand.
3. Knowledge of product construction, fabric technology, and testing.
4. Understanding of compliance legislation, certifications, and sustainability initiatives.
5. Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working with suppliers and factories.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with product management systems.
