Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking enthusiastic pharmacy assistants to join the clinical pharmacy team at ward level, supporting patients and nursing staff with medicines. You should have hospital or community pharmacy experience and be prepared to work towards NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services.

You will support dispensing, work with Medicines Management Technicians to reduce waste, and help manage medicines storage within a 7-day service, including weekends and late shifts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy.
• Willing to work towards NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
• Able to work on wards with Medicines Management Technicians.
• Comfortable using an electronic prescribing system.
• Flexible to support a 7 day service, including weekends and late shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmacy assistant support to the clinical pharmacy team and ward-based medicines management.
• Work with Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to reduce medication waste and ensure proper storage.
• Provide medicine dispensing services where necessary.
• Contribute to weekend, bank holiday and late night shifts.
• Undertake further education to advance the role and support dispensary services.

We are looking for enthusiastic pharmacy assistants to work as a key part of the clinical pharmacy team at ward level to support patients and nursing staff in using and looking after medicines.If you are interested in this post, you will need previous experience of working in either a hospital or community pharmacy and either hold or be prepared to work towards NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services or equivalent.Your focus when working on wards will be to work closely alongside the Medicines Management Technicians (MMTs) to help reduce medication waste and support appropriate storage of medicines. You must be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for trying new roles and delivering an excellent patient experience. Ward based roles will be included only when dispensary competence and efficiency is embedded.Undertake further education and training to advance the role of Pharmacy

staff within the department.Support the work of the main dispensary in the provision of an extended hour's serviceWill be expected to expand and broaden their skills and abilities.

Main duties of the job

• To provide pharmacy assistant support to the clinical pharmacy team and ward based medicines management at ward level
• Working closely alongside the Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to help reduce medication waste, support appropriate storage medicines and process medication orders through our electronic prescribing system
• To provide medicine dispensing services where necessary
• You must be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for trying new roles and delivering an excellent patient experience.
• The Pharmacy is a 7 day service and contribution to weekend, bank holiday and late night shifts will be required.
