Job description

The Opportunity

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Assistant Technical Coordinator to join a busy IT services business and become a key support to the Office Manager and wider technical team.

This is an entry-level opportunity, so you do not need years of IT experience or a technical background. What matters most is your attitude, common sense, willingness to learn and ability to get things done without needing everything spelled out for you.

You will be working in a busy, down-to-earth environment where no two days are quite the same. You'll be helping to keep the office running smoothly, supporting consultants, dealing with clients and managing the day-to-day administration that keeps the technical team moving.

There is also plenty of opportunity to learn more about the technical side of the business and develop your career within IT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Office Manager with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks
  • Monitoring the support inbox and ensuring requests are dealt with promptly
  • Creating, updating and assigning support tickets using Halo
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and directing them appropriately
  • Booking and coordinating technical consultants
  • Managing diaries and helping to organise appointments
  • Responding to emails and following up on outstanding requests
  • Keeping clients and consultants updated where required
  • Arranging couriers, deliveries and collections
  • Maintaining accurate records and internal information
  • Helping to keep the office organised and adequately stockedSupporting company communications and social media where required
  • Providing general administrative support across the business
  • Taking responsibility for tasks and using your initiative when priorities change
What We're Looking For

We're not looking for someone with a perfect CV. We're looking for someone with the right attitude.

You should be:
  • Friendly, confident and approachable
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Organised and comfortable juggling multiple tasks
  • A good communicator with a confident telephone manner
  • Proactive and capable of using your own initiative
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change
  • Happy to get stuck into basic administration rather than considering it "beneath you"
  • Willing to learn new systems and develop your skills
  • Comfortable taking direction and responding positively to feedback
  • A genuine team player with a good sense of humour
  • Down-to-earth and comfortable working with a close-knit, informal team

A good sense of humour is genuinely important. We're a friendly, working-class bunch who don't take ourselves too seriously. There is plenty of banter, plenty of swearing and plenty of opportunity to give as good as you get!

Previous Experience

This is an entry-level position, and previous IT experience is not essential.

Experience in any of the following would be useful but is not required:
  • Office administration
  • Customer service
  • Client support
  • Reception
  • Scheduling or coordination
  • Working in a busy office environment
Training will be provided on the systems and processes used within the business, including:
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Halo
  • IT Glue

We can teach you the systems and technical skills. Attitude, reliability and common sense are much harder to teach.

Career Development

This role offers a genuine opportunity to build a career within IT.

As you gain experience, there will be opportunities to learn more about the technical side of the business, develop your knowledge and take on additional responsibilities.

You don't need to be an IT expert on day one. We're looking for potential rather than perfection.

If you're someone who turns up, gets stuck in, learns quickly and takes pride in doing a good job, we'd like to hear from you.
