Job summary

UCL School of Pharmacy is seeking an Assistant Teaching Technician to provide essential technical support for teaching and practical sessions. You will set up three clinical skills rooms and assist with wet lab classes, ensuring smooth delivery of the programme across OSCEs.

The role involves maintaining equipment, gathering resources, and working with academic and technical staff while being line managed by the Clinical Skills Technician team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ2 qualification or equivalent in healthcare.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or a pharmacy school is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations in clinical environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Set up three professional and clinical skills rooms for teaching sessions.
  • Maintain equipment and prepare resources for practical sessions and OSCEs.
  • Assist teaching staff and work with academic and technical colleagues.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Pharmacy team as an Assistant Teaching Technician.

About the role

The main responsibility of the role will be to provide essential technical support to teaching at the UCL School of Pharmacy. You will be responsible for setting up the three professional and clinical skills rooms and may help with some wet lab classes. The main purpose of the role is maintaining equipment and gathering resources for practical sessions, workshops and examinations (including Objective Structured Clinical Examinations, OSCEs), working collaboratively with academic and technical staff to ensure the smooth delivery of the teaching programme.

The post-holder will work within the Technical Services team supporting teaching within UCL School of Pharmacy Teaching Laboratories, and will be line managed by the Clinical Skills Technician team.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic, hands-on team-player with a minimum of an NVQ2 qualification, or equivalent, as a Healthcare Assistant or Pharmacy Services Assistant. You will have experience of working in healthcare, a pharmacy or a pharmacy school, a working knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices in a clinical environment, and the ability to learn the maintenance and routine upkeep of clinical skills equipment, including manikins and clinical diagnostic devices. Good attention to detail and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel) are essential.
