Job summary

Bloor Homes in Exeter is seeking an experienced Assistant Surveyor to support cost management and procurement across our regional sites. The role involves compiling sub-contract enquiry packs, analysing tenders, and preparing cost breakdowns for NSSA.

You will work closely with the Senior Surveyor and Commercial Manager to ensure compliant, profitable outcomes. Based at the Exeter region office, you will attend site meetings, assist in valuation processes, and ensure health and safety

Qualifications

• Educated to HNC/HND level or equivalent in construction.
• Relevant construction degree is desirable.
• Experience in quantity surveying or project management roles is preferred.
• Good negotiating and time-management skills are essential.
• Computer literacy and ability to work to tight deadlines are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing sub-contract and supplier enquiry lists for approval.
• Prepare full enquiry packs and collate tender information for compliant bids.
• Create tender comparison sheets and negotiate with sub-contractors.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and include them in NSSA.
• Keep SMAS certification up to date for new sub-contractors.
• Liaise with Senior Surveyor and Commercial Manager on drawings take-offs and rates.
• Update SWMP plan, Carriers Matrix, and licence expiry dates for site issues.
