Job summary

Farmfoods in Wolverhampton is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for a 43-hour, five-day week. You will support the shop manager, coach a team of retail assistants, and ensure smooth daily operations with a focus on service and store standards.

The role requires flexibility including weekends and a proactive approach to employee development, cost control, and customer care in a busy retail environment. A friendly, reliable, and team-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Some experience as a manager, team leader or supervisor.
• To complete a Basic DBS check (England/Wales) or Disclosure Scotland check (Scotland) if hired for the advertised position which will be sent to you via email and confirm if you have any previous or unspent convictions. Your employment is subject to a satisfactory check.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the shop manager to run an efficient shop and provide a great service to our customers.
• Be responsible for the development of your team of retail assistants through coaching, mentoring and providing feedback.
• Be accountable for the shop in the absence of the shop manager and responsible for ensuring that customers are looked after, deliveries are worked quickly and shop routines are completed to maintain a safe, clean and tidy shop.
• Take responsibility for motivating and guiding your team to ensure the control of operational costs including shrinkage, waste and payroll.
• Support the shop manager with recruitment and induction of new team members.
