Job summary

National Highways in the North West is recruiting an Assistant Spatial Planner to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will work with Spatial Planners, local authorities and developers to ensure that transport impacts are considered and mitigation measures identified.

Based in Manchester, Preston, Warrington or Penrith with regular travel to our Manchester office, you will manage your caseloads and coordinate responses while supporting development consent orders and funding opportunities for

Qualifications

• Prior understanding of spatial planning or town/transport planning and related legislation.
• Knowledge of statutory responsibilities and planning guidance.
• Appreciation of transport-related issues in spatial planning.

Responsibilities

• Assist and work with Spatial Planners and local authorities to assess transport impacts of developments.
• Coordinate with internal/external partners to identify funding opportunities for road improvements.
• Discharge duties as a statutory consultee and manage specialist consultant support.
• Prepare planning responses and reports, assist with Development Consent Orders and cost recovery activities.
• Liaise with stakeholders and share information on emerging strategies and programmes.
