Job summary

London Borough of Hounslow is seeking an Assistant Service Manager for the Housing Register, leading a frontline team to deliver a modern, person-centered housing service for vulnerable residents. The role focuses on applications, assessments, resettlement, and homelessness prevention, with responsibility for Part VI reviews and allocations.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of Part VI of the Housing Act 1996 and related guidance.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary housing teams and complex needs cases.
• Ability to motivate and develop staff in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication with applicants, colleagues and elected members to achieve outcomes.
• Flexible and independent worker, keeping team updated on legislation and policy.

Responsibilities

• Lead line management of 4–8 frontline Housing Register officers.
• Oversee housing applications, assessments, advice, resettlement, homelessness prevention and allocations.
• Manage Part VI reviews and issue decisions in line with policy and legislation.
• Ensure compliance with Housing Act Part VI and Allocations Policy; deliver timely, quality decisions.
• Maintain accurate records and monitor quality assurance initiatives.
