Job summary

Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative is seeking an Assistant Service Manager in Llandrindod Wells to help run a safe, person‑centred service. You will support the Service Manager, lead the team, and ensure daily operations meet individual needs and rights to independence.

The role requires weekend work and sleep-ins as part of the rota, and involves coaching staff, conducting one‑to‑ones and appraisals to foster a caring community.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with learning difficulties in a social care setting.
• Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or actively working towards).
• Full driving licence – essential, own car, and willingness to travel for meetings and training.
• Knowledge of the Care Council for Wales Code of Practice.
• Flexibility to work shifts and provide cover as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Service Manager to create a safe, caring and supportive service for the people supported and staff.
• Be a visible, hands-on presence in daily service running; reflect individual needs and requirements.
• Lead on day-to-day operations, carry out one-to-ones and appraisals; run team meetings.

We're dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, enriched lives and be an active part of their community. As an Assistant Service Manager, you'll play a vital role in making this happen - supporting a great team and helping the people we support to live life on their own terms.

Role: Assistant Service Manager

Location: Llandrindod Wells

Hours: Your shift pattern will include weekends and sleep-ins

Salary: £29,149.91pa and our sleep-in shifts at £60 per night and our travel expenses is paid 55p per mile

Contract: Permanent

What you'll be doing:

In this role, you'll work closely alongside the Service Manager to help create a safe, caring and supportive service for both the people we support and our colleagues. You'll be a visible and hands‑on presence in the day‑to‑day running of the service, providing support and carrying out duties that reflect the individual needs and requirements of the people we support.

You'll work shifts on a rota basis, which may include sleep‑ins. When the Service Manager is absent, you'll step up to take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the service. This is an opportunity to lead from the front - providing leadership and management to the team, monitoring performance, carrying out one‑to‑ones and appraisals, and bringing colleagues together through team meetings.

Above all, you'll be driven by one important goal:supporting the people we support to achieve the highest possible levels of independence and live fulfilling lives on their own terms.You'll help organise and model support in an innovative, person‑centred and flexible way, ensuring that every day is meaningful and making everyday remarkable.

• a working knowledge and understanding of the Care Council for Wales Code of Practice

• access to your own car and happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 55p per mile to cover this
