Job summary

Create Education are working with a high-performing school in Watford to recruit an experienced and ambitious Assistant SENDCo to join their SEND leadership team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your SEND career, leading with the SENDCo to coordinate provision and improve outcomes.

You will deputise for the SENDCo, manage EHCPs and annual reviews, support exam access arrangements, line manage LSAs/HLTA, and ensure inclusion across the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with SEND in an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes and statutory requirements.
• Experience with JCQ Exam Access Arrangements and assessment/testing.
• Experience line managing staff or leading a SEND team.
• Excellent organisation, administration and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication with teachers, parents, students and external professionals.

Responsibilities

• Support the SENDCo in leading and developing SEND provision across the school.
• Deputise for the SENDCo when required.
• Coordinate provision for students with SEND, working closely with staff, parents and external professionals.
• Manage EHCP Annual Reviews, provision maps, student plans and statutory documentation.
• Support Exam Access Arrangements, including assessment and JCQ compliance.
• Line manage and support LSAs and HLTA, including appraisals and CPD.
• Support staff with strategies to improve SEND outcomes.
• Liaise with external agencies and contribute to referrals and responses.
• Promote inclusion and ensure SEND students access to the curriculum.
• Support transitions for students joining or leaving the school.
• Deliver Functional Skills in Maths and English to Years 10 and 11.
