Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd seeks an Assistant SENCo to coordinate SEND provision in a specialist school. You will support EHCP processes, annual reviews, and liaise with families, local authorities and external agencies.

The role requires strong organisation and communication in a dynamic school environment. You will also contribute to intervention planning, study skills resources and access arrangements, ensuring compliance and high-quality support for students with dyslexia and related learning

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice (2015) and EHCP processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with families and external agencies.
  • Ability to manage accurate SEND records and documentation.
  • Experience coordinating annual reviews and working with Local Authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate EHCPs and SEND provision across the school, including annual reviews.
  • Maintain accurate EHCP tracking systems and SEND records.
  • Lead and support Annual Review meetings as directed by leadership.
  • Provide comprehensive admin support to the Learning Support Department.
  • Support examination access arrangements and inclusion initiatives.

Your new company

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and organised Assistant SENCo to join a highly regarded independent specialist school supporting students with dyslexia and related specific learning difficulties. Working closely with the Head of Learning Support (SENCo), you will play a vital role in the coordination, development and delivery of high-quality SEND provision. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate SEND professional who is committed to ensuring every student receives the support they need to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will have experience supporting children and young people with SEND, a sound understanding of EHCP processes and excellent communication skills when working with families, local authorities and external agencies.

Your new role

As Assistant SENCo, you will support both the strategic and day-to-day delivery of SEND provision across the school. You will be responsible for coordinating SEND administrative processes, maintaining accurate records, supporting annual reviews and EHCP procedures, and helping to ensure statutory responsibilities are met.You will also contribute to intervention planning, study skills provision, examination access arrangements and wider inclusion initiatives across the school community.

SEND & EHCP Coordination
  • Support the implementation, monitoring and review of EHCPs and SEND provision.
  • Coordinate Annual Review processes and associated documentation.
  • Liaise with Local Authorities, families and external professionals to ensure statutory deadlines are met.
  • Maintain accurate EHCP tracking systems and SEND records.
  • Collate evidence and reports for Annual Reviews and EHCP meetings.
  • Support transition arrangements for students moving into and beyond the school.
  • Lead Annual Review meetings as directed by the Head of Learning Support.
Administrative Support
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Learning Support Department.
  • Maintain accurate SEND records using the school's management systems.
  • Prepare reports, provision maps, support plans and correspondence.
  • Coordinate meetings with parents, staff and external agencies.
  • Support preparations for inspections and SEND compliance processes.
  • Assist with wider departmental projects, conferences and advisory services.
Communication & Partnership Working
  • Act as a key point of contact for parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Build strong working relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Liaise with educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, local authority officers and other professionals.
  • Support meetings with parents regarding students' progress, provision and outcomes.
  • Promote student voice, independence and positive outcomes.
Intervention & Inclusion
  • Support the development and delivery of intervention programmes.
  • Assist with the development of study skills resources and curriculum materials.
  • Deliver whole-class study skills sessions where appropriate.
  • Promote accessibility, inclusion and wellbeing throughout the school.
Examination Access Arrangements
  • Support applications for examination access arrangements.
  • Ensure approved arrangements are accurately recorded and implemented.
  • Maintain confidential records in line with JCQ and GDPR requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
  • Experience supporting SEND provision, interventions and EHCP processes.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
  • Relevant SEND qualification, training or significant related experience.
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties.
  • Experience of Annual Reviews and Local Authority SEND procedures.
  • Understanding of examination access arrangements.
  • Experience working with external agencies such as Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy or CAMHS.
  • Experience analysing student progress and intervention impact.
  • Experience supporting staff training, mentoring or coaching.
