Job summary

Claires Court is seeking an Assistant SENCo / Specialist Dyslexia Teacher to join its Neurodiversity Department across three school sites. The role blends specialist teaching, formal assessments and coordinating SEND provision, with 80% teaching allocation.

You will work closely with the Senior School/Sixth Form and Junior School Neurodiversity Leads to support pupils with dyslexia, autism and ADHD and to drive inclusive practice within the all-through school.

Qualifications

• Holders of specialist teaching and assessment qualifications for dyslexia/SpLD and literacy difficulties.
• Qualified and experienced to support JCQ exam access arrangements.
• Experience supporting pupils with dyslexia, autism and ADHD.
• Confident delivering one-to-one and small-group specialist teaching.
• Knowledge of SEND theory, adaptive teaching and inclusive education.
• Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple school sites and teams.
• Professionalism, confidentiality and safeguarding are upheld.
• Willingness to contribute to wider school life as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist SpLD teaching to individual pupils and small groups.
• Conduct formal SpLD assessments and dyslexia diagnoses across three schools.
• Co-lead JCQ exam access arrangements and support deadlines.
• Screen and assess pupils with literacy barriers or learning differences.
• Support pupils with dyslexia, autism and ADHD in mainstream settings.
• Coordinate speech, language and autism support with other SENCos.
• Refer for Education, Health and Care Plan assessments as needed.
• Help ensure quality of Learning Support and Teaching Assistant provision.
• Help develop inclusive teaching practices across the curriculum.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and the Neurodiversity Department.
• Manage shared caseloads, referrals and assessment outcomes effectively.
