Job summary

Claires Court is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant SENCo / Specialist Dyslexia Teacher to join its Neurodiversity Department at Maidenhead. The role combines specialist teaching, formal assessment and coordinating inclusive practice across three school sites, working with the Senior and Junior school SENCos.

Qualifications

• Hold the relevant specialist teaching and assessment qualifications to assess learners with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.
• Be qualified and experienced to support JCQ exam access arrangements.
• Experience supporting pupils with dyslexia, autism and ADHD.
• Confident delivering specialist one-to-one and small-group teaching.
• Understand SEND theory and inclusive education practices.
• Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
• Collaborate across different school sites and professional teams.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality and safeguarding.
• Be an enthusiastic team member contributing to the wider life of the school.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist SpLD teaching to individuals and small groups.
• Conduct formal SpLD assessments and dyslexia diagnoses across all three schools.
• Co-lead JCQ exam access arrangements and coordinate applications ahead of deadlines.
• Screen and assess pupils with literacy barriers or learning differences.
• Support pupils with dyslexia, autism and ADHD within mainstream settings.
• Coordinate speech, language and autism support with other SENCos.
• Refer for Education, Health and Care Plan assessments as needed.
• Quality assure Learning Support Assistant and Teaching Assistant provision.
• Help develop adaptive and inclusive teaching across the curriculum.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and the Neurodiversity Department.
• Manage shared caseloads, referrals and assessment outcomes.
