Job summary

Bethell Group, a growing civil engineering contractor, seeks an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its Yorkshire operations. You will act as day-to-day commercial lead on regional projects, supporting the Commercial Manager and project teams.

Ideal candidates have a Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent, 2–3 years’ experience, experience with payment applications, subcontract administration, NEC/JCT forms, strong numeracy, and solid communication. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
• 2–3 years experience in a QS/Assistant QS role.
• Experience preparing payment applications and site measurements.
• Understanding of subcontract administration and payment processes.
• Awareness of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
• Good commercial awareness and numerical skills.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Site measurement and valuation activities
• Preparing and submitting applications for payment
• Drafting and administering subcontract agreements
• Preparing and managing Early Warning Notices and contractual communications
• Assessing and processing subcontractor payments
• Supporting cost reporting, forecasting and change control processes
• Assisting with subcontract procurement and supply chain management
• Monitoring project performance and maximising commercial value
• Maintaining relationships with clients, subcontractors and operational teams
• Identifying commercial risks and communicating to the team
• Assisting with month-end reporting and commercial administration
• Supporting delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects in Yorkshire
