Job summary

Bethell Construction in the North West is looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its Yorkshire expansion. You will become day-to-day commercial lead on projects in the region, supporting the Commercial Manager and project teams.

The role suits a recent QS graduate or an Assistant QS with a few years' industry experience who wants greater responsibility, mentoring, and a clear path to develop as the Yorkshire operation grows.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or working towards equivalent qualification.
• 2-3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role.
• Experience preparing applications for payment and undertaking site measurements.
• Understanding subcontract administration and payment processes.
• Awareness of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
• Good commercial awareness and numerical skills.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence.

This role would suit either a recent Quantity Surveying graduate or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a few years of industry experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility whilst continuing to benefit from the support and guidance of an experienced commercial team.

You'll become the day to day commercial lead on projects within the region, helping to keep projects moving, managing commercial activities on the ground, and escalating issues where necessary. In return, you'll be given genuine autonomy, exposure to a wide range of commercial activities, and a clear opportunity to grow alongside the business as our Yorkshire operations develop.

What You'll Be Doing

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider project teams, your responsibilities will include:

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys being involved in the detail and day-to-day commercial management of projects and is keen to develop their career within a growing business. Ideally, you'll have:

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or be working towards an equivalent qualification
• Between graduate level and approximately 2-3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role
• Experience preparing applications for payment and undertaking site measurements
• An understanding of subcontract administration and payment processes
• Awareness of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract
• Good commercial awareness and numerical skills
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• A full UK driving licence
• The confidence to work independently whilst knowing when to seek support and guidance.
