Job summary

United Infrastructure Group, via AFECO, seeks an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on UK infrastructure projects. You will support interim valuations, cost reporting, and subcontract procurement while gaining hands-on experience toward MRICS/AssocRICS accreditation.

This entry-level role offers exposure to NEC3/4 contracts, value engineering, site meetings, and cost control. We value numeracy, good communication, and a proactive, detail‑focused mindset with a drive to learn

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• NEC3 / 4 experience desirable.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organise workload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and develop commercially and professionally.

Responsibilities

• Support the Commercial and finance team in the effective commercial management of projects.
• Assist with the preparation, submission, and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts.
• Support the procurement process, including issuing enquiries, analysing quotations, and preparing subcontract orders.
• Measure, price, and value variations in line with contractual requirements.
• Maintain accurate cost records and assist in preparing cost reports and forecasts.
• Help monitor project budgets, cost control measures, and financial performance.
• Attend site meetings to gather information needed for valuations, variations, and reporting.
• Assist with the preparation of tender documents and bills of quantities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant industry standards.
• Engage with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support smooth project delivery.
