Job summary

Regional Main Contractor in the South of England is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a varied portfolio of projects.

You will work closely with Project Managers and Site Managers, handling procurement, valuations and cost reporting from procurement through to final account, with opportunities to progress through the business and take ownership of projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Assistant QS or QS in UK construction.
• Experience with a main contractor on new-build, refurbishment or design-and-build projects.
• Understanding of procurement, valuations, variations and cost control.
• Strong commercial awareness and organisational skills.
• Confident communicating with subcontractors, suppliers and project teams.
• Quantity Surveying qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Procurement and commercial management of subcontractor packages.
• Preparing valuations, applications for payment and cost reports.
• Monitoring project expenditure, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Managing variations, subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Supporting commercial delivery from initial procurement through to completion.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and the wider project team.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintaining strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
