Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading roofing, cladding and building envelope specialist on UK projects. Based in Wigan, you will support commercial management across roof and facade schemes, helping with subcontractor enquiries, procurement, cost reporting and final accounts.

You will work closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, develop your commercial expertise, and build strong relationships with clients and suppliers while

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee role in construction.
• Experience in roofing, cladding, façades, building envelope, or specialist subcontracting preferred.
• Must-have QS qualification or working towards one.
• Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the commercial management of roofing, cladding, and faade projects
• Supporting the preparation of subcontractor enquiries, procurement, and contract administration
• Assisting with applications for payment, valuations, variations, and final accounts
• Producing quantity take-offs and assisting with cost reporting and CVRs
• Monitoring project costs and supporting budget management
• Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle
• Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Assisting with identifying commercial risks and value engineering opportunities
• Maintaining accurate commercial documentation and project records
• Supporting successful project handovers from pre-construction through to completion
