Oakland Construction Ltd is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the Commercial Team in managing project costs and commercial documentation. The role involves working closely with Quantity Surveyors, site managers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered commercially and in line with Oakland Construction’s standards.

You will develop your commercial knowledge, participate in cost reporting, and help identify risks and opportunities within construction projects.

To support the Quantity Surveyor and wider Commercial Team in the effective financial and contractual management of construction projects, assisting with the control of project costs, procurement, valuations, variations, payments and reporting.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will develop their commercial knowledge and experience while working closely with Quantity Surveyors, Site Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and other members of the project team to help ensure projects are delivered successfully, commercially and in accordance with Oakland Construction’s standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Management

• Assist the Quantity Surveyor with the day-to-day commercial management of construction projects.
• Assist with monitoring project costs, budgets and expenditure.
• Assist with maintaining accurate cost records and commercial documentation.
• Assist with preparing and updating project financial reports and forecasts.
• Identify and report potential commercial risks, cost pressures and opportunities to the Quantity Surveyor.
• Assist with the preparation of cost/value reconciliations and project financial information.
• Develop an understanding of project financial performance and commercial reporting.

• Relevant qualification or study towards a Quantity Surveying / Construction Management qualification.

• Experience using construction or commercial management software.
