Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Taunton & Bridgwater

Salary: GBP40,000 to GBP45,000 + car allowance + bonus + package

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Company:

Our client is a successful residential builder with an established reputation within the South West market and beyond. Typical projects include mid to high volume residential developments of 3, 4, and 5-bedroom houses, as well as apartments in timber frames and traditional build, on open market and social housing projects.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the regional commercial team and advance your career with one of the best employers in the region. You will assist in the day-to-day commercial aspects of new build residential developments across two sites in Somerset. The role reports to an experienced Senior QS and offers excellent guidance and mentorship.

Typical duties & responsibilities:

• Ensure optimum commercial return for the project.
• Assist in preparing accurate cost/value reconciliation reports.
• Prepare and agree interim valuations at scheduled dates to maximize commercial advantage.
• Assist in final account agreements with subcontractors to enhance project margins.
• Prepare subcontract orders following company procedures and procurement schedules, with appropriate approvals.
• Maintain control of subcontractor accounts and minimize variation costs.
• Manage subcontracts in valuation and correspondence.
• Perform duties as a quantity surveyor on projects as instructed.
• Prepare or assist with monthly cost/value reconciliation reports, forecasting the final financial position.
• Create turnover cash flow forecasts, updating with actual valuations achieved.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Person:

• At least 12 months of experience with a national or regional house builder or residential main contractor.
• Demonstrable experience working on residential projects.
• Long-term career ambition.
• Innovative mindset, with the ability to identify improvements.
• A good team player eager to contribute to a growing business.
• Commutable between Bridgwater and Taunton.
