Abatec is assisting a leading M&E contractor seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Hinkley Point C. Our client is at the forefront of delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, ensuring cost control and compliance with financial targets.
• Help produce and manage cost estimates, forecasts, and reports.
• Support the preparation and analysis of tenders, contract negotiations, and supplier/subcontractor management.
• Assist in managing subcontractor accounts, including valuations, payments, and variations.
• Conduct site visits to ensure accurate measurement and assess variations to the original contract.
• Assist in preparing final accounts and post-contract duties.
• Work closely with the project management team to provide cost-related advice and support.
• Ensure all contractual documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects project costs.
• Provide support for project financial audits, ensuring activities align with company standards and regulations.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• A keen interest in construction or engineering sectors.
• Some experience in quantity surveying is preferred but not essential.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and relevant quantity surveying software.
• A proactive problem solver who can work independently.
• Motivated to develop a career in Quantity Surveying.
